report for the city, filed the report for the city, the city's preservation staff reviewed that report and found that this building is not a historic structure and you have a copy of that historic resource evaluation in your brief in the response that was provided. the project sponsor went through and his architect went through the various processes that the city requires. they had a preapplication meeting with the neighbors, they filed their permit after the historic evaluation was completed and after the cat category exemption was issued, the section 311 notice went out. prior to that because of concerns raised by some neighbors, the project sponsor engaged in the community board process. this is not something where the project sponsor is stone walling neighbors, he has been working with them since 2005. there's a disagreement and obviously we're here because people still have a different point of view and they are using their rights to appeal, but the project sponsor did go to the community boards with the neighbors, they went through that process. so i just want you it know that. i

i want to thank also the agencies of the city that have worked with us. first of all, the department of emergency management. we've become really kindred spirits in this whole process and we have been working with the poor, we've been working with the fire department, the police department, and who knows where else in this city. but there's just a lot of things i guess most of all martha cohen works with us on this. thank you for all you do to make this happen. i do want to say the importance of the mission of the disaster response, we have a saying in the marine corps, never put yourself in a position where you have to introduce yourself from the battle field. get to know each other before something happens. and that's what this is about. and we've gotten to know these military and these civilian folks that are going to have to work together when a big catastrophic earthquake happens. we don't know when it will happen. we do know that one of these days everybody predicts we're going to have one. there's a lot of other events that go on during fleet week

bit by the election and the folks at sf city and the tech sector have been refocused until the election on propositions, so i hope to by probably next meeting or the one -- probably the one after have a date and a specific lineups for that panel. i think that's going to be a really interesting project to pursue. the nightlife sector position as you may remember the mayor funded a position, the office of economic work force development to launch the city's sector initiative and that is the most formal title we have heard thus far and continue to use that word. the full time funding doesn't start until 2013 so we are closely following that and we will be working with a manager there to make sure that the sector initiative is in lines with the entertainment commission. it's not my job to oversee but it's important to go down the road together and that is my focus with respect to that job, and lastly i wanted to update the commission there was some problems on broadway on that weekend that was a million visitors including fleet week, america's cup, bluegrass -- you name it. there was a lot

other things that are in the city. but just in terms of the business community, everyone is very close together on a very flat easily transportable surface. i don't know, there is some conjecture years ago about the height limits that were passed in the '80s and original limits on amount of commercial square footage whether or not that led to the advent of commercial business parks in the bay area. i think it was a combination of factors. that might have been part of it. it might have been the fact that the political climate may have changed some in san francisco at the same time. might have been the economy went south. but they were still building some commercial real estate in places where no one would expect them to be. in fact, i still don't understand why we have business parks in san ramon and some of the places in the south bay that don't really make any sense and aren't close to any public transportation or anything else and are totally auto dependent. so, this is a great idea to have regional growth particular
